About Us

About Sault Ste. Marie Tree Service

Who We Are

Sault Ste. Marie Tree Service handles tree work for homeowners and property owners in and around this city. Our seven services cover tree trimming, removal, dead branch work, storm cleanup, crown thinning and canopy reduction, cabling and bracing, and stump grinding.

We operate as a local business should, and most of our work comes from repeat customers or a recommendation from a neighbour rather than a stranger searching cold.

About Sault Ste. Marie Tree Service

What Makes Us Different

Nothing gets cut until you have a written tree trimming number in hand. That document identifies each tree, spells out what is being done to it, gives a rough figure for how much crown is coming off, and tells you where the trimmings end up.

Sometimes the honest answer is that the tree doesn't need tree trimming right now, and we'll tell customers that too. It costs nothing to hear, and we'd rather say it than book tree trimming work we don't think is warranted.

Tree trimming quotes from us always come in writing, and we hold to the number named in that tree trimming quote regardless of how the job actually goes once the crew starts.

Our Commitment To Quality

Every cut we make lands at the branch collar, not flush against the trunk, so the tree can actually heal the wound over rather than rot from it. Topping is a different thing altogether; we won't do it, and we're glad to explain why if another company already quoted it for you.

Insurance paperwork gets handed over before we touch a single branch on any tree trimming job. Ask any company bidding on your trees to do the same, here or wherever else you happen to be getting quotes.

Quality tree trimming shows in the details other crews skip: clean cuts, a tidy site when we leave, and a tree that still looks like a tree once the tree trimming is finished.

Working With Local Conditions

Ground conditions change a great deal across this city over short distances. Land near the St. Marys River often carries a layer of silt and clay that holds water, while ground further from the shore frequently sits shallow over Canadian Shield bedrock. Neither drains the way deep, uniform soil would further south.

That contrast matters in practice: identical species end up needing different tree trimming depending on which side of that divide they're growing on, and winter here brings sustained snow weight rather than the on-and-off thaw cycles farther south. Algoma Steel anchors a lot of the local economy, but a tree in someone's yard doesn't know or care what industry pays the mortgage - every tree trimming quote gets built around the specific tree in front of us, not a regional generalization.

How A Job Runs

Every tree trimming job runs through the same four-part process, without exception:

- We come out and see the tree for ourselves before naming a tree trimming price - You get a written tree trimming quote naming every tree involved, the cuts planned, and where the material ends up - We set up the site before any tree trimming cutting starts, moving anything nearby that could be damaged - We run the brush through the chipper, deal with the wood however you've asked, and tidy the ground before heading out from the tree trimming job

Where Do We Service?

We provide tree trimming and every other service throughout Sault Ste. Marie, including the older streets around Steelton and Korah and the newer subdivisions further from the core, along with Bayview and the properties nearer the river.

We also reach Echo Bay, Garden River, Goulais River and the properties along Prince Township. Not sure if you fall inside that range? Give us a call and we'll tell you.

What We Do

What We Do

Tree trimming, tree removal, storm cleanup and stump grinding, for homes and properties across Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area.

Tree Trimming and Pruning

Keeping a crown light before the first big snowfall is what tree trimming and pruning does, and it is the service Sault Ste. Marie Tree Service is called for most often. The crew carries full insurance on every visit. Regular tree trimming and pruning costs less than almost anything else we offer, which is usually why it is worth booking first.

Dead Branch Removal

A dead or hanging branch does not wait for a convenient moment to fall, so we take dead branch removal calls on short notice, from a single hanging limb up to a crown that has lost most of its living wood. The crew that shows up for dead branch removal is insured for the work.

Emergency Storm Damage Cleanup

When a tree comes down in a storm, Sault Ste. Marie Tree Service is who people around here call, day or night when the situation calls for it. If wires are tangled in the wreckage, that's a call to Hydro One before it's a call to us; we move in once they've confirmed it's safe to touch. Every emergency storm damage cleanup job is fully insured.

Tree Removal

Not every tree can be saved, and when one has to come out, Sault Ste. Marie Tree Service removes trees of any size, including difficult tree removal sites along the shoreline and on shallow ground over bedrock. The tree removal work is insured, and a price is agreed in writing before the saw starts.

Crown Thinning and Canopy Reduction

When a mature tree has outgrown its spot, either too thick through the middle or too wide for the yard, that is what crown thinning and canopy reduction correct, and Sault Ste. Marie Tree Service offers both to homeowners here. Nobody starts cutting until you have signed off on the plan, and the crew carries full insurance for the visit.

Tree Cabling and Bracing

A tree with a single weak point is often still worth keeping, so instead of taking the whole tree down, Sault Ste. Marie Tree Service installs cabling or bracing to support that one weak spot. The crew is fully insured, and we say plainly when hardware will not actually help.

Stump Grinding and Removal

A stump left behind after a removal does not have to stay. Sault Ste. Marie Tree Service books stump grinding on its own timeline, separate from the removal that came before it, fully insured, and the choice of whether to grind it stays yours.
